How do you watch time go by? Since you're stuck in the mentality that time is divisible and there's a before and after, a "set" that you can place to mark things by in the past and future then the question arises, what system of time watching do you wish to go by? Is it a numerical system? One such as these?

We know that the current system of time watching is slightly ajar. It's constantly banging off incorrect minutes and seconds and leaving trailing days on the ends of each month. It's confusing to say the least and it doesen't do anything for us as a species except leave us scrambling after money related issues in our everyday lives, nothing but money, no matter how you toss is. The word Calendar stems directly from the latin word for "account book" so where do you "spend" your time?
I've recently been introduced to the Dreamspell, a derivitive of the Mayan Tzolkin by Jose Arguelles. It's an admittedly incorrect version of the Mayan system, one which changes the start date causing a misalignment of the glyphs between the two. This will cause Dreamspell users to find themselves on a different glyph when they seek out their "true" mayan birthdate glyphs. This is fine really, it's insignifigant in the scheme of things where the planet art network and Arguelles are concerned. It's not about coinciding with Mayan dates, it's about coinciding with natural time, and the system works regardless of the start date.
So why wouldn't I follow the Dreamspell? It's overblown exotic. It's trying to be too much without being basic enough, it's changing things without giving reasons why, it's using made up glyphs and not stating they are non original. They bring chakras into the mix, they place a whole story around the "tones" which appears not to exist anywhere but with them. They are causing a great influence with this highly askew derivitive and I've determined to counter thier influence with a version of the mayan calendar of my own.
This is a call to arms. Help me provide photographs of original tzolkin day and haab month glyphs in the hands of as many different scribes as are known, they will be included in the system I've began work on. I will be only using glyphs that are known to exist and I will provide photographer credits where they are available as the photos will be used to create some of the month art. I want to include every original glyph as they are the most important representation of the mayan system we have.
The reason I'm making this thing is not so I can watch time however. The question I ask myself is not why I want a calendar to watch time, it's why I need a calendar at all? I need a growth tool for my everyday life, something to apply each sunrise until sunset, something to dream about, something to help me persue my dreams, something to give me direction and to influence my determination. Something to make living here worth doing and force me to go about doing the things that need to be done. That's why this thing is going to be done right, it's going to be simple, inspirational and artistic. I need no longer see time as the world does, the global consciousness is aligned with time in it's most natural sense, I'm just pulling my self back into the right levels of sense connectivity so that I can connect with it as I'm supposed to. Sure I need to know where we are in time according to Gregorian/Julian, but that's just so the textbooks don't have to be thrown out and all the "box" recordings don't have to be forgotten, even though they will undoubtably be forgotten by the entire species sometime anyway.. Why mark things as having occurred when "now" is all that's important?
I'm just beginning and it is good. Thank you my Love.
ps- why don't we have a "sense" class in school?
